Contact time refers to the amount of moist contact with metals, plastics or surfaces that are required for the disinfectant to be effective against the pathogens listed on the label.
For example, BARBICIDE contact time is 10 for immersion, so an item that has been properly cleaned first would have to be immersed in BARBICIDE for a full 10 minutes for it to be effective.
Contact times are listed on mall disinfectant labels and can vary with product type:
- BARBICIDE Concentrate and Sprays have a 10-minute contact time
- BARBICIDE Wipes have a 2-minute contact time
